A continuous interest of Dr. Sacharias is in teaching, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. It is expressed in the gradual growth of the Film Library where the enthusiastic contribution of Registrars and Staff members led to a collection of 14,000 cases. A by-product of this was the teaching DVD : Radiology Beyond a Textbook which was developed by Dr. Sacharias, Dr. Andrew Solomons, Dr. Mark Schoenwalder and lastly Dr. William Rose who remained her assistant for several years, where more than 2,000 images are described in a spoken text freeing the student from having to read the text as well as having to study the images simultaneously. Sixteen presentations are given, excluding Paediatrics and Gynaecology and Obstetrics as these were not practiced at the Alfred Hospital at the time of writing. There is a small separate section of five talks on the imaging modalities used in Medical Practice.

"Grandma of Radiology: I’m also on a Radiology rotation, so Tuesday is radiology day! I’ve never been really keen on radiology but after meeting the sweet Dr Nina Sacharias who calls herself “the grandma of Radiology” I almost don’t want to admit that radiology is kind of fun :p Nina is the sweetest and funniest little lady and she greets us with “Good morning my children.” :) I swear she must be 70 or 80 but she’s still as sharp as ever and has the cutest analogies to keep us interested despite 3 hours of learning how to read x-rays."

That sweet little old lady is my mum! I was showing her the functions on my phone when we came across your blog. She was so happy to read your comments. She’s an amazing person who really deserves a medal…..hang on…come to think about it…she’s got one! Thanks.
